This region of Alaska is the most northern section of the United States of America. It contains many small villages and most of the state's oil reserves. This is the originating point of the trans Alaska pipeline which starts in Prudhoe Bay Field. The brooks Range that is located inteh southern part of this region is the last of the mountain ranges in North American continent. From those rugged mountains north to the Arctic Ocean it is flat and covered mainly in tundra.
Many herds of different species migrate to this area of Alaska in the summer months to birth their young. It's climate is very harsh with wind blowing back and forth across its treeless land. In the winter months which are 2/3's of the year consist of a annual snow fall of 6 inches, although it is so small amount, the winds blow it in to deep berms and keep a lot of it in the air. The people that live here have to live in the dark for months in the winter due to the high latitude of the region.
